Rustic Manor Wedding | Delafield Wedding Photographer
When I first met with Katie and Andrew to talk about potentially photographing their wedding, I instantly noticed A) how cute they are together and B) their warmth! They were so friendly, easy to talk to and had a fun and playful energy about them. I asked about how they got engaged and Andrew literally lit up when he told the story of how he had to wait for much longer than planned to propose because the ring had been locked in his gun safe and he couldn’t get it out for over a month and a half! Once he finally got it out, his plan was to propose while on a hike through Devils Lake State Park. But, nature had other plans. It was in the 90s and humid that day and he knew they’d be miserable outside, so he decided to propose as Katie just as she was getting ready to walk out the door!
It is only fitting that nature had other plans for their outdoor wedding as well. Three days before the big day, it was 30 degrees there was a record breaking snowstorm that covered the ground in over 6 inches of snow! Wisconsin being Wisconsin, the temperature went up 25 degrees within those three days and it ended up being a beautiful, sunshine filled day. So even though there was snow on the ground, it was quite comfortable outside!
Surrounded by their family and friends, Katie and Andrew read their own vows to one another during the ceremony. There was laughter, smiles and tears throughout the ceremony – sometimes all three emotions at the same time! We managed to sneak out for some gorgeous sunset portraits, which ended up in an impromptu snowball fight! I’m pretty sure Katie started it, but Andrew ended it with just a tiny bit of snow down the back of Katie’s dress! Their first dance was romantic and sweet and the guests had a blast dancing the night away!
Katie and Andrew – I couldn’t be more honored to have been given the privilege of capturing your wedding day. You make such a wonderful couple and you are so lucky to have two amazing sets of parents as role models for your marriage! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day.
