University Club of Milwaukee Wedding | Michelle Kujawski Photography
It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to blog this beautiful University Club of Milwaukee wedding! It is currently featured in Wisconsin Bride’s 2019 Wedding Book, so I was holding off on sharing until until the publication came out this winter. (Click here for a free copy of the magazine.) The wedding may have been almost 2 years ago, but the aesthetic is timeless.
Annemarie and Aaron are such a sweet couple have a fun back story, too! They met on their first day of graduate school at Yale University. Annemarie, a Wisconsin native, was there to earn a M.A. in Ancient History and Aaron, originally from Delaware, was there for a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. When choosing a location for their wedding, the most important thing for them was to be able to celebrate their marriage with family and friends that live all over the country – and the world! They chose Milwaukee because of its convenient location in the middle of the country and its overall affordability. It also happens to be where the bride’s parents live!
The wedding fell on the same day as the Air and Water show, so needless to say there was a lot of congestion in the downtown area. With the help of an amazing Uber driver, though, Annemarie made it to the first look at the Villa Terrace feeling cool and calm. After bridal party photos at the Villa Terrace, we went to the Milwaukee Art Museum (where Annemarie’s mother works as a docent!) for a few more portraits. Then it was back to the University Club for the ceremony.
The couple asked two close friends to write and conduct the ceremony, which brought most of the guests (and the groom!) to tears. Annemarie and Aaron also added a few other personal touches to make their wedding extra special. Mory’s Cup, a Yale drinking tradition, made an appearance and all of the guests received personalized, laser-printed coasters as favors. During dinner I had the pleasure of sitting with several guests that had never been to Milwaukee until that day. It was so fun to hear how much they loved the city and how surprised they were by how much it had to offer!
